The keeper of the wax
Johnny Donnelly owns four thousand records and has played nearly all of them on air. A former ferry-deckhand, he started filling in on storm days when the roster couldn't reach the studio — and never left the morning slot again.
By day he wakes the city with two full sides of vinyl. By night, as captain of The Night Ferry, he plays the rare grooves and slow jazz that only make sense after dark.
On-air style
- Unhurried and dry-witted — traffic has never sounded so companionable.
- Full album sides, never shuffled, with the crackle left in.
- Remembers every caller's name, boat and usual order.
