About us
Harborlight Radio began in a fish-market loft with one microphone and a harbor view. A decade later we are still independent — and still broadcasting the city back to itself.
Start your day with Harborlight
Mara Ellis opened our first morning show with the ferry times and a promise: this station would always sound like Harbor Bay. Today four resident jockeys, a daily news programmer and a rotating crew of neighborhood selectors keep that promise across 18 hours of live radio a day.
We play what the harbor plays — hip-hop from the Bayview blocks, wax from the collectors on Dock Street, ambient for the night ferries and talk that treats every caller like a neighbor. No playlists from elsewhere, no voice from another city.
Audience testimonials
"The Hip-Hop Hour got my son through his exams and got me through my nights at the cannery. Harborlight is family."Dana Whitfield — Cannery Row listener
"I plan my ferry crossing around Mara's morning news. Nobody reads this city the way she does."Marcus Webb — Daily ferry commuter
"Captain Midnight on Fridays is sacred in our house. Tracy finds bands we then see at the boardwalk a month later."Lena Shore — Boardwalk regular
"I requested one song for my father's birthday and got a whole hour of dedications. That is what radio should be."Daniel Reyes — Dock Street caller
